STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women's lacrosse team closes out its three-game homestand on Wednesday night, hosting Hartford at LaValle Stadium at 6 p.m.

Scouting Hartford
  • Hartford is 1-11 on the season with its lone win coming at Delaware State (20-2).
  • The Hawks are currently embarking on just their second season in program history.
  • Goalkeeper Emma Privitera is sixth in the nation in saves per game (12.00), 25th in saves (108) and 28th in saves percentage (0.478).
  • Megan Miller leads her team with 17 goals and eight assists for 25 total points.
  • Suzanna Cantwell paces the squad in ground balls (20) and caused turnovers (11) while Kaitlyn D'Andrea has the lead in draw controls (37).
  • Stony Brook is a perfect 1-0 against Hartford, topping the Hawks last season by a score of 21-3.
Head Coach Joe Spallina
  • Seawolves' head coach Joe Spallina is in his eighth season with the program, owning a 128-25 overall record at Stony Brook.
  • The engineer of the nation's best turnaround in 2012 and winningest coach in program history after only three seasons, Spallina has guided the Seawolves to a 42-2 record in America East action and six consecutive America East titles and NCAA Tournament appearances.
  • Under Spallina, Stony Brook has produced 11 individual IWLCA All-Americans for a grand total of 17 All-America honors, six Tewaaraton nominees, – including two finalists – six conference championships, six NCAA Tournament second-round berths and two NCAA quarterfinal appearances.
2018 Season
  • Stony Brook is coming off its best season in program history, going 20-1 in 2018. 
  • The Seawolves fell at Boston College in the NCAA Quarterfinal round after winning its sixth-straight America East title on May 6, 2018.
  • The Seawolves won 20 games in a season for the second time in program history after also doing so in 2017.

Welcome to the 200 Club
  • With a dominating 14-2 win over Cornell on Mar. 16, head coach Joe Spallina hit the 200-win mark as a head coach.
  • The victory marked his 127th at Stony Brook while winning 73 games at the helm of Adelphi's women's lacrosse team.
Views From the Top of the Conference
  • Stony Brook has been dominant in conference play under Coach Spallina's tenure, going 42-2.
  • The last time the Seawolves dropped a contest to an America East opponent was back in 2014 when Vermont won an 8-7 overtime decision.
  • In the America East tournament, the team has only lost one game with Spallina at the helm, falling to Albany in the championship in 2012 (7-9).
Going Streaking
  • Ally Kennedy has scored in all nine games so far this season.
  • Kennedy put in a career-high six goals against UMBC on Mar. 13.
  • Siobhan Rafferty has notched at least one point in every game and has recorded at least one goal in the past seven contests.
  • Against the Retrievers, she scored a career-high five goals.
Everybody Gets a Goal!
  • Three players scored their first-career goals as a Seawolf against UMass Lowell last Saturday.
  • Freshmen Mikayla Dwyer and Gabby Abbadessa each notched a tally as well as sophomore transfer Kelsi LoNigro.
  • As a team, 17 total players have scored at least once this season.
Shots…EVERYBODY
  • Ally Kennedy leads the nation in shots on goal per game (6.67) and is fifth in shots per game (8.78).
  • Against Princeton on Mar. 9, she took a career-high 13 shots with 10 of them falling on goal to notch five scores.
  • Additionally, she is 12th in free position goals per game (1.22).
In the Record Books
  • Taryn Ohlmiller is seventh in program history in career goals (134).
  • Courtney Murphy (2014-18) holds the program and NCAA record with 341.
  • Ohlmiller is also third in assists (107), only behind Carlee Buck (2004-07, 135) and her sister, Kylie Ohlmiller (2015-18), who owns the NCAA standard (246).
  • Additionally, she is fifth in points (241).
  • Keri McCarthy is the current Stony Brook record-holder in draw controls (335).
  • Ally Kennedy is ninth all-time with 119.
(Goal)Keeping it Real
  • Goalkeeper Anna Tesoriero's goals against average in the 11th-best in the nation (8.75).
  • The senior has started in all nine games this season, collecting 63 saves on the year.
Team USA
  • Both Ally Kennedy and Mackenzie Burns have donned the Red, White and Blue for the U.S. Women's National Lacrosse Senior team.
  • Kennedy made her debut for Team USA back in November at the U.S. President's Cup down in Florida.
  • In January, Burns joined Kennedy out west in California for the Spring Premiere.
Built From The Island
  • Out of the 31 players on Stony Brook's roster, 24 hail from Long Island.
  • This is the most in comparison to other DI lacrosse programs.
  • Hofstra is second on the list with 18 athletes from the Island while Binghamton is third with 16.
All-American Selections
  • Four Stony Brook women's lacrosse players were tabbed as Inside Lacrosse Preseason Division I All-Americans, the publication announced heading into the 2019 season.
  • Taryn Ohlmiller and Ally Kennedy were selected to the Second Team while Keri McCarthy and Anna Tesoriero were named to the Honorable Mention squad.
Tewaaraton Trio
  • Taryn OhlmillerAlly Kennedy and Keri McCarthywere named to the 2019 Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
  • This is Ohlmiller's second time on the prestigious list as she was also included on the initial watch list last year.
Coast-to-Coast
  • This year, the team features two players from the North American West Coast.
  • Freshman Shonly Wallace hails from Mission, British Columbia while classmate Gabby Abbadessa is from Phoenix, Ariz.
