STONY BROOK, N.Y. –
Ally Kennedy (North Babylon, N.Y.) and
Mackenzie Burns (West Sayville, N.Y.) were both announced as Inside Lacrosse Division I Media All-Americans on Tuesday afternoon.
Kennedy was picked as a Third Team All-American honoree while Burns was put on the Honorable Mention squad.
Inside Lacrosse Media All-Americans are decided by ILWomen contributors and members of lacrosse media who are tasked with choosing the 2019 season's top 12 attackers, nine midfielders, 12 defenders, top three draw specialists and top three goalies. Honorable mention selections are chosen based on players who received multiple votes, but did not accrue the totals of the first, second, or third honorees.
This is Kennedy's second year in a row being honored as a media All-American after earning Honorable Mention nods last season. Coming into the 2019 season, she was a Second Team Preseason All-American and was chosen as a Third Team Midseason All-American in April.
The two-time reigning America East Midfielder of the Year had a stellar junior campaign, notching a 100-point season (84G, 16A) while being named a Tewaaraton Award top-25 nominee.
This is Burns' first time as a media All-American following a standout senior season. The defender was named the America East Defensive Player of the Year, anchoring the Stony Brook defensive unit that ranked third in the nation. Both she and Kennedy were also named IWLCA First Team All-Region honorees.
