AVON, Ohio — Stony Brook alum Jack Parenty has a new professional baseball home.
Parenty has signed with the Lake Erie Crushers after playing the previous three seasons in the independent Frontier League with the Schaumburg Boomers.
In 255 games over three seasons with Schaumburg, Parenty hit .297 with one homer and 86 RBIs in 256 games. He also had 27 steals and a .365 on-base percentage.
Parenty primarily has split duties at second base and in the outfield and also seen time at shortstop during his professional career.
With Stony Brook from 2013 through 2016, Parenty batted .317 with four homers and 117 RBIs in 208 games and earned America East Player of the Year honors in 2015.
He was America East Rookie of the Year as a freshman, then earned second- and first-team All-America East honors the following two seasons.
"I feel fortunate to have spent my four years at Stony Brook University," Parenty said. "I made tremendous strides in my playing career thanks to the dedicated coaching staff and competitive environment that the coaches and past Stony Brook players established."
