BOSTON — Two of the greats in Stony Brook women's soccer history, Alyssa Francese and Chelsie DePonte, were honored on Friday afternoon as the Seawolves' two all-conference selections.

Both graduate students were selected as Second Team and All-Academic honorees as the Seawolves season came to a close on Thursday with a win at UMBC.

"Congratulations to all of the players selected. So much hard work goes into a season and it's a great accomplishment to get recognized," head coach Tobi Bischof said. "I'm happy for Alyssa and Chelsie to receive All-Conference recognition. Both players had fantastic careers and represented our program in the best possibly way. However, I believe we have more than two players at an all-conference level and I look forward to working with them in the spring."

A five-time America East All-Conference selection, Francese finished her career with 43 goals to her name, second all-time and the most by a Seawolves player in this millennium. Stony Brook's leader in goals, she finished tied for first in league play and third overall, tallying five in America East contests and eight overall during the 2021 campaign. 

She earned First Team Distinctions during Spring 2021, as well as Striker of the Year in 2019 and Second Team All-Conference in 2018.

The 2021 America East Woman of the Year, DePonte earned her third All-Conference distinction after a First Team selection in the Spring 2021 campaign as well as Second Team in 2019. The Honolulu, Hawaii native finished fourth in minutes this season, playing 1527 on the year. 

She was also second on the team in goals (2) and points (6) while starting all 17 matches.

The duo will graduate with four America East trophies, winning the postseason tournament during the 2017, 2019 and the Spring 2021 campaign, as well as earning America East regular season championship honors in 2018.
