KANSAS CITY, Mo. — After being two of the league's best all season long, the United Soccer Coaches decided to take recognitions a step further.
Already with first-team all-conference accolades, seniors
Alyssa Francese and
Chelsie DePonte were selected to the All-Atlantic Region second team, cementing their place among the best in the ACC, America East and Metro Atlantic.
Francese, the 2019 America East Striker of the Year, finished the year with a league-high six goals and 14 points, including four game winners in Stony Brook's run to a second consecutive America East Championship. She also assisted on the Championship-winning goal early in the first half, dishing a feed to
Fanny Götesson.
DePonte was one of seven Seawolves, including Francese, who finished the year with multiple assists in the shortened season. She finished second on the team with 10 points, including the game-winner on Senior Day against Maine.
Stony Brook is one of three America East schools to land a player on the two All-Region squads, with UMass Lowell (2) and UAlbany (1) each earning selections on the second team.
