Jared Milch Signs Pro Baseball Contract with New Jersey Jackals

LITTLE FALLS, N.J. — Stony Brook alum Jared Milch is taking his talents to professional baseball.

Milch, a 6-foot-4 left-hander, has signed with the New Jersey Jackals in the Frontier League.

He could make his pro pitching debut as soon as Sunday, when the Jackals play at the Tri-City ValleyCats in upstate Troy, N.Y.

Milch, who hails from Pacifica, Calif., earned second-team All-America East honors this past season.

He was named to the conference's All-Championship team after tossing a career-high nine-inning, 120-pitch complete game in an elimination-game victory against UAlbany in the America East Tournament last Friday.

That turned out to be Milch's final collegiate appearance. The tournament was halted due to inclement weather after regular-season champion Stony Brook reached the finals, and NJIT was awarded the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.

Milch went 6-4 with a 3.04 ERA in 74 innings spanning 13 starts in 2021. He pitched for three seasons with the Seawolves after arriving from the College of San Mateo.

"It really means a lot after the rough few days our team had to go through," Milch said about signing with the Jackals. "I'm really excited to represent Stony Brook and continue my career in a great organization."

Milch joins a slew of Seawolves graduates in the pros. That includes Daniel Zamora (Seattle Mariners), Nick Tropeano (San Francisco Giants) and Travis Jankowski (Philadelphia Phillies) currently at the major league level and Bobby Honeyman (Double-A Arkansas), Aaron Pinto (Double-A Arkon) and Michael Wilson (Brewers organization) currently with MLB organizations.
