PECONIC, N.Y — Ready to make an impact in the 2022 season, three Stony Brook Baseball rising sophomores are earning summer accolades in the Hamptons League.
Pitcher
Andrew Ledbetter, catcher
Ryan Micheli, and infielder Matthew Brown-Eiring were announced as Hamptons League All-Stars on Sunday night. The game is set to take place on July 17th at Cochran Park.
Brown-Eiring is one of the hottest bats in the league, hitting .342 at the plate with four homers and 21 RBI. His average ranks third-highest in the league, while the latter two are second in the HCBL. Ledbetter is one of the league's most dynamic relievers, recording 22 strikeouts in 11.1 innings of work. His 22 K's rank highest among pitchers without a start in the league. He's also sporting a 2.38 ERA.
Micheli's .333 batting average would be good for fourth in the league but he sits one at-bat short of the league minimum. Ledbetter and Brown-Eiring will be part of the Gold Team, managed by Ledbetter's summer manager Rob Cafiero. Micheli will be opposing them on the Red Team, headed by his HCBL coach Bill Ianniciello.
Idris Carter will join Brown-Eiring and get the fireworks started early as two of the seven entrants to the HCBL Home Run Derby. That is slated for a 3 p.m. start at Cochran Park in Peconic, N.Y.
