RICHMOND, Va. – After helping the Seawolves to a 2-0 week in CAA play, senior guard
Gigi Gonzalez has been named the conference Player of the Week following a pair of stellar performances as announced by the league office on Monday.
Gonzalez averaged 21.0 points, 6.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game en route to two crucial conference wins for the Seawolves. She shot 69.6 percent from the field (16-of-23) and 42.9 percent from three (3-of-7) over the two-game stretch.
The guard began the week by tallying 22 points on a near perfect 9-of-10 shooting from the field and six assists in the win over Charleston on Thursday. Gonzalez went on to record her second consecutive 20+ point performance on Sunday as she dropped 20 points, dished out seven assists, and pulled down six rebounds in the win over Towson.
Fort the season, she is averaging 12.8 points, 4.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds per game in 20 starts. She currently ranks second in the CAA in assists per game (4.5) and second in total assists (90).
Stony Brook will remain home to take on the Drexel Dragons on Sunday, February 5. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. and the game will be broadcast live on SNY and FloHoops.
