Men's Cross Country Climbs to No. 4, Women's Cross Country at No. 14 in USTFCCCA Regional Rankings

NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Stony Brook University men's and women's cross country programs both appear in the Northeast Region Preseason rankings, as released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday. The Stony Brook men jumped up two spots to No. 4, while the women check in at No. 14 in the Northeast Region.
 
The Stony Brook men climbed two spots from its No. 6 preseason ranking after taking first as a team in each of its first two meets this season. Graduate student Shane Henderson paced the Seawolves to first-place team finishes at the Stony Brook Season Opener and the Friar Invitational to kickstart the 2023 season. Classmates Evan Brennan and Carlos Santos Jr. have also performed well, registering a a pair of top-five finishes to open the fall campaign.

After slotting in at No. 13 in the USTFCCCA's preseason rankings, the Stony Brook women dropped one spot to No. 14 in the latest poll. As a squad, the Seawolves finished second at the Stony Brook Season Opener and third at the Friar Invitational. Junior Grace Weigele finished first and fourth individually at the two season-opening meets to lead the way for the Seawolves.
