WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. -- The Stony Brook women's soccer team fell 1-0 on the road this rainy afternoon against Monmouth University at Hesse Field on The Great Lawn.
The Seawolves kept the Hawks off the scoreboard in the first half before giving up the lone goal in the 58th minute to Liza Suydam after the halftime break in the loss.
Stony Brook put the pressure on the Monmouth defense early by tallying four of the first five shots of the match.
Reilly Rich ripped two of the shots, while
Grace Cagnina and
Luciana Setteducate each launched a shot. However, the Hawks kept the Seawolves off the sheet and kept the match tied into the break.
After
Nicolette Pasquarella tallied one save in the first half, the junior led Stony Brook with seven more saves to finish with a new season-high. Monmouth would find the back of the net in the 58th minute to take the lead and ultimately secure the 1-0 victory. More details to follow.

- Pasquarella piled up a new season-high eight saves for the Seawolves out of 14 total Hawks shots. It was the most saves for the goalie since Sept. 11, 2022 against Penn (11 saves).
- Ashley Manor, Kerry Pearson, Catharina von Drigalski, and Pasquarella all played 90 minutes.
- The squad had five corner kicks compared to the three corners by Monmouth.
- Stony Brook put two shots on goal.
- The Seawolves move to 0-2 all-time against the Hawks.

NEXT UP
The squad will return to on Thursday when they head to Maryland to take on Towson University. Stony Brook is 1-1 all-time against Towson and won their last meeting against the Tigers 2-1 in 2016.
