HAMPTON, Va. – The Stony Brook University swimming and diving team began their 2024 Coastal Athletic Championships journey this afternoon, February 28, in Hampton Va.
The 200 Medley team composed of members from the sophomore class - Sara Baxter, Aili Talcott, Michelle Vu, and freshman Ashley Chui, began the CAA Championships by completing the heat in 1:44.83, with splits of 27:16, 29.57, 24.45 and 23.65. The squad collected 40 team-points and earned ninth place with their time, respectively.
The Seawolves were .01 seconds off their time from last year after the team composed of Reagan MacDonald,
Jessica Salmon,
Vu, and sophomore
Alanna DePinto finished in 1:44.82.
Later on in the evening, the Seawolves got back in action with the 800 Free Relay Team finishing the heat in 7:39.67. Senior Mary Kate Conway, DePinto and the freshman duo of Meredith Yuhasz and Chui earned 40 points after their ninth place finish to end the day with 80 points as a team.
Stony Brook is currently sitting in ninth place with 80 team points. UNCW is leading with 120 points, followed by Delaware with 112 points, Northeastern finishing at 108 points, William & Mary with 106 points and Towson rounding out the top five seeds with 102 points.

The squad is back in the pool tomorrow for day two of the CAA Championships in Hampton, Va. The Seawolves will begin their morning at 10:00 a.m. with the 500 Free, 200 IM, and 50 Free prelims. At 12:30 p.m., Stony Brook will battle in the 3Mtr Diving preliminary round, followed by the 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free, 3Mtr Diving and 400 Medley Relay beginning at 6:30 p.m. Catch all the action live on FloSwimming.
