Goslar and Sisson Pick Up Event Wins, As Seawolves Record 13 Top-Eight Finishes At Mark Young Invitational

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Stony Brook women's track and field returned to competition Saturday, posting a strong showing at the Mark Young Invitational.

As a team, the Seawolves recorded 13 top-eight placements, including a pair of event wins from Grace Sisson and Shaylen Goslar.


HIGHLIGHTS
  • Sisson outpaced the field to win the 5000m (17.33.19).
  • Goslar finished first in the 800m. Her time of 2:13.25 was both a PR and a season-best time in the event.
  • Brienna Ahmetaj placed second in the high jump, with a best jump mark of 1.51m.
  • Ahmetaj, Jasmine Mason-Rudolph, Enyero Omokeni, and Samantha St. Juste finished second in the 4x100 relay (50.35).
  • Mason-Rudolph recorded a second-place finish in the 400 hurdles. She set a new PR and season-best time of 1:03.75.
  • St. Juste finished third in the 400m (1:00.09).
  • Amelie Guzman placed third in the 1500m, setting a new PR at 4:36.26.
  • Danielle Cirrito finished fourth in the 800m. Her final time of 2:16.65 was good for a new PR.
  • Miranda Gatto finished fifth in the 1500m, setting a new PR at 4:43.92.
  • Paulina Gasparis placed sixth in the 400m (1:00.77).
  • Omokeni finished seventh in the 200m, setting a new PR at 25.12.
  • Logan Barsalow placed seventh in the 1500m (4:50.65).
  • Alejandra Garcia placed eighth in the 1500m (4:50.73).

"The meet today was an opportunity for some of our athletes to earn a place on the bus to the conference championships, and some took it," head coach Andy Ronan noted. Shaylen and Danielle in the 800m, Amelie in the 1500m, and Grace in the 5000m had a good day and showed signs of a good postseason.

UP NEXT
Stony Brook continues its buildup to championship season next week, competing at the 129th annual Penn Relays. Action will begin on Thursday and conclude on Saturday, with three days of the meet starting at 10:00 a.m.
