WEST HAVEN, Conn. — Stony Brook women's soccer picked up its third consecutive win on Thursday night, defeating New Haven 6-0. After a
Linn Beck goal in the first half, the Seawolves ran away with things in the second half, tacking on five goals to cruise to victory over the Chargers.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Possession and pace of play were dominated from the game's onset by Stony Brook, as they fired off 14 shots in the first half, while holding New Haven to just one. The Chargers were able to keep the Seawolf offense at bay during the game's first 20 minutes, until Beck broke through with a goal in the 24th minute to open the game's scoring via an assist from Taylor Steinagel. Following Beck's goal, the Stony Brook attack continued to apply pressure, but was unable to convert as New Haven's keeper made three saves in the final 20 minutes of the first half, keeping it a one-goal game heading into halftime.
The Seawolves carried their momentum into the second half, continuing to dominate both possession and pace of play. After being held scoreless for the first 12 minutes of the second half, Reilly Rich opened the scoring with a goal at the 57:15 mark.
