Stony Brook, N.Y. -
OVERVIEW: Stony Brook returns home this week for a pair of games against America East opponents, Hartford and Vermont. The Seawolves have not played a home game since the season opener back on August 31, playing a string of six straight games on the road.
ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: Hartford enters the week with a 4-2 overall record, 2-0 in America East action. The Hawks knocked off Dartmouth by the score of 2-0 last Wednesday afternoon. Jeannette Akerlund leads the attack for Hartford with four goals and two assists, ranking second in the America East in points per game at a 1.57 clip. She also ranks third in individual goals. Anne-Lise Nilssen boasts a 1.10 GAA in net for UH.
Vermont enters the week a 2-5, 1-1 in conference play. Kelly Herrero leads the Catamounts in scoring with four goals.
SERIES RECORDS: Hartford holds a 2-0 series edge in a series that has been dormant since 1990. That year, the Hawks earned a 3-0 win over SB.
Vermont has won all eight meetings between the two teams, holding a perfect 8-0 stranglehold over the Brook. The Catamounts last win came in 1997.
SPECIAL K:Krisha Zagura got in on the offensive act last Saturday on the road at Cornell. Trailing 1-0 late in the game, Zagura leveled the game at one with a beautiful volley off a Brittany Norwood cross. It was Zagura's first goal of the season.
LENDING A HAND: Brittany Norwood notched her second assist of the season on Saturday against Cornell. She has Stony Brook's only two assists this season.
A CHANCE TO MOVE UP: Despite being winless in conference play, a win only three points separate seven teams in the America East. A win on Thursday would vault SB into a tie with New Hampshire and Northeastern.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN: After this weekend, the Seawolves hit the road for three straight games. They will take on Army on Monday night before traveling to Towson and Delaware next weekend for a pair of pivotal conference matchups. Stony Brook plays a record 12 road games this year.
