Towson, MD -
Sophomore Holly Noga scored two goals, including the game-winner on a penalty kick, as Towson (3-6-2, 2-2-1 America East) ended their four-game winless streak with a 2-1 America East victory over Stony Brook (0-9-2, 0-5-1) Friday afternoon in Maryland.
Noga upped her league-leading total to nine goals with the two-goal effort against the Seawolves. She gave Towson a 1-0 lead at 19:58 when she scored off a cross from senior Maggie Lennon. It was her first goal in four games.
Stony Brook, now winless in 11 games this season, tied the game just before halftime. The Seawolves scored at 40:32 when junior Kristin Baker scored her first goal of the season booting the ball into the far corner of the net off a pass from junior Emily Snyder.
Towson took a 2-1 lead with 17:27 left in regulation. Stony Brook was called for a foul in front of the goal and the Tigers were awarded a penalty kick. Noga calmly put the ball in the right corner of the net to give the Tigers the lead.
Stony Brook outshot the Tigers by an 18-11 margin and had several late opportunities to score but could not knot the match. Junior goalkeeper Lori Nelson made four saves for Stony Brook, who heads to Delaware for a 1:00 p.m. match Sunday.
