Diego Acero (Greenport, N.Y.) came off the bench to score his first goal in the 89th minute but two tallies from Boston University just a minute apart helped the Terriers beat the Stony Brook men's soccer team, 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Nickerson Field. With the loss, Stony Brook falls to 7-6-2, 1-3-1 in America East play. Boston University is 8-5-1, 2-1-1.
After a scoreless first half, the Terriers scored their first of two goals just three minutes into the second half.
Stony Brook answered back though in the 89th minute. After coming off the bench late in the game, Acero scored his first goal of the season off a shot from Yahaya Musa (Elmont, N.Y.).
Stony Brook outshot Boston University, 16-10 and own a corner kick advantage, 8-1.
The Seawolves return to LaValle Stadium from an in-state match against rival Albany on Wednesday night. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
