Women's Soccer Opens Season By Blanking Siena, 1-0

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Freshman Danielle Tenaglia (North Reading, Mass.) scored off a quick pass from Kate Collins (Essex Fells, N.J.) in the eighth minute and Marisa Viola (Cutchogue, N.Y.) made six saves as Stony Brook shutout Siena in the opening game of the 2007 season. Stony Brook is 1-0 and Siena is 0-1.

Stony Brook came out with a pressured attack and would find the back of the net just eight minutes in. After Collins dribbled the ball towards the net, she found a streaking Tenaglia who found the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Viola faced a strong Siena offensive attack turning away six shots for the shutout and first win of the season.

Stony Brook is back in action on Tuesday night when it takes on a second MAAC opponent in Iona. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 pm.
