Boston, Mass. - Mara Osher scored the game-winning goal in the 61st minute to lead the Boston University Terriers to a 2-0 victory over the Stony Brook University women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon at Nickerson Field. Junior goalkeeper Marisa Viola (Cutchogue, N.Y.) made a season-high 14 saves for the Seawolves who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Stony Brook falls to 8-7 overall and 4-2 in the America East while Boston University improves to 11-5-1 and 6-0.

The game-winner came with just under 30 minutes remaining as the Terriers earned their second penalty kick attempt of the game. Viola made a brilliant save on Osher's initial attempt and then stopped a rebound shot from Emily Pallotta before Osher was finally able to put one past her and give the Terriers a 1-0 lead. Marisha Schumacher-Hodge added an insurance goal just two minutes later as she also put home a rebound after Viola had stopped her initial attempt from just over 10 yards out.

BU nearly took the lead 15 minutes into the game but Viola made a diving save on a Jennifer Herman shot attempt which came after she made the initial save on Cory Halasz's shot. The Terriers best scoring chance of the half came with just under nine minutes remaining in the opening period as Schumacher-Hodge attempted a penalty kick which Viola was able to turn away to keep the game scoreless. Viola faced 25 shots on the day, making the 14 saves. Janie Reilly made two saves in goal for the Terriers who won their fifth straight game.

Stony Brook's best scoring attempt came late in the first half as freshman Colleen McKenna (Manorville, N.Y.) got free on a breakaway but Reilly came off her line and prevented McKenna from getting off a shot as the game remaining scoreless. The Seawolves finished the contest with six shots including five in the second half.

Stony Brook returns to action on Thursday, hosting Binghamton at LaValle Stadium. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
