Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook University women's soccer program held its end of the season banquet at SBU's Wang Center on February 16th. During the evening, head coach Sue Ryan and her staff handed out team awards, including the teams Most Valuable Player, Most Improved Player, Top Scholar Athlete, and Most Outstanding Freshman.

John Fitzgerald was the event's keynote speaker. Fitzgerald has been a Long Island Soccer icon for over 20 years and coached the 1997 Long Island Rough Riders to a National Championship.

Senior Jackie Timmes (Mastic, N.Y.) was named Most Valuable Player as she helped anchor one of the nation's most feared defenses. Head Coach Sue Ryan and her staff also named sophomore Alex Teti (Downington, Pa.) the team's Most Improved Player and Sarah Dwyer (Laurel, Md.) Outstanding Freshman.

The women's soccer team went 8-5-5 and made it to the America East semifinals beating Maine 2-1 in its first ever home playoff game.
