Sophomore second baseman Chad Marshall (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) was named the SimplexGrinnell Stony Brook Athlete of the Week on Monday after leading helping the Seawolves take three of four from Vermont over the weekend in the first America East series of the season. Marshall hit .700 (14-for-20) in the four-game series against UVM including a career-high five hits in Stony Brook's 21-20 victory over the Catamounts in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader.
Marshall had multi-hit games in five of the Seawolves six contests last week in addition to driving in four runs and scoring five runs. He also drilled a two-out single in the sixth inning to score junior Chris Maier (Farmingdale, N.Y.) with the go-ahead run in the Seawolves 6-3 win over the Catamounts in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader. Marshall hit a team-high .586 (17-for-29) for the week and his .375 batting average currently ranks seventh in the America East.
