Loudonville, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's soccer team will open the 2011 season on Friday when they travel to Loudonville, N.Y. to take on the Siena Saints at 2 p.m. The Seawolves return eight starters and 17 letterwinners from a squad that advanced to the America East semifinals last season.

The Seawolves' attack will be paced by seniors Dominique Adamo (Ramsey, N.J.) and Colleen McKenna (Manorville, N.Y.), who combined for 10 goals and 25 points in 2010. Juniors Taryn Schoenbeck (Newark, Del.) and Sa'sha Kershaw (Baltimore, Md.) each chipped in eight points last season and will look to continue their offensive production from the midfield in 2011.

Defensively, Stony Brook boasts plenty of experience in senior backs Alexis Lindo (York, Pa.) and Dana Adamkiewicz (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.), the 2011 team captain. The pair will be joined by a trio of talented and experienced sophomores, Jennifer Taylor (Ashburn, Va.), Ahriel Fernandez (East Haven, Conn.) and Julianne Palm (Stilwell, Kansas). Sophomore shot-stopper Chelsea Morales (Temecula, Calif.) also returns to bolster the defense after keeping three clean-sheets a season ago.

Stony Brook's opponent, Siena is coming off a MAAC championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2010. The Saints have again been tabbed as preseason favorites in conference with 17 letterwinners and five All-Conference performers returning. Seniors Shannon Clancy and Lindsay Tegas were named to the preseason All-MAAC team as well.

The teams met last season in a wild, six-goal affair won by the Saints, 4-2, in Stony Brook. Deb Aller put the Seawolves in front in the 52nd minute following a corner by Adamo, but Siena quickly equalized in the 56th and went ahead in the 64th. The Seawolves fought back to tie it 2-2 when Rachel Silverman put away a feed from Palm in the 69th, but the Saints struck back with two more goals in the final 13 minutes to seal the win. Overall, the Seawolves are 9-3 all-time against Siena, last earning a victory in 2007.
