Winners of 10 of its last 12 games, the Stony Brook University baseball team hosts the Rhode Island Rams on Wednesday at Joe Nathan Field. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.

Junior Tanner Nivins went 3-for-4 with two RBI to lead the Stony Brook University baseball to a 6-4 victory over the Albany Great Danes in the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday. Albany rallied for a 7-6 10-inning win in the second game to salvage the finale of the four-game set. Junior William Carmona had a combined six hits in the doubleheader and drove in four runs in game two.

Senior Tyler Johnson's 1.12 ERA ranks sixth in the nation ... junior Maxx Tissenbaum and senior Pat Cantwell rank first and second, respectively, as the toughest in the nation to strikeout ... Tissenbaum has struck out just once every 38.7 at-bats and Cantwell once every 36.3 at-bats ... the Seawolves also rank nationally in several team categories including fielding percentage (fifth), triples (sixth) and ERA (20th) ... junior Willie Carmona was named America East Player of the Week on Monday and freshman Cole Peragine earned the conference's Rookie of the Week honor ... Carmona hit .571 with 12 RBI in six games last week while Peragine hit .526 with eight RBI ... Carmona is hitting .368 and leads the America East in home runs (seven) and RBI (35).

The Rams have won six straight and 15 of their last 18 including a three-game sweep of conference foe St. Bonaventure over the weekend. The Rams have won each of their first four Atlantic-10 series' and lead the conference with nine league wins.
