Baseball set to host 2012 America East Championships

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Fresh of its second straight America East regular season title, the Stony Brook University baseball team will host the 2012 America East Baseball Championship at Joe Nathan Field from May 23-26. The top-seed Seawolves will be joined by Albany, Binghamton and Maine in the four-team double-elimination tournament.

Fans can listen to all Stony Brook games at www.goseawolves.org and locally on WUSB 90. 1 FM. Live Stats for all games will be provided on the America East's Championship Central page.

The Seawolves open against No. 4 Maine on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in a matchup of the last two America East champions. No. 2 Albany takes on No. 3 Binghamton in first game of the of the Championships on Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Stony Brook (43-11, 21-3) won a school record 43 games during the regular season including 19 of their last 20. The Seawolves enter the Championships with the top winning percentage in the nation (.796).

Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 (14 & Under) for youth and $2 for students from America East institutions with a valid student I.D. Admission for Stony Brook students with a valid student I.D. is free courtesy of the Stony Brook Athletics department.

Tickets are available on-line at www.goseawolves.org beginning Monday at noon or at the gate on the day of the game.

Game 1: #2 Albany (home team) vs. #3 Binghamton, 11 a.m.
Game 2: #1 Stony Brook (home team) vs. #4 Maine, 3 p.m.

Thursday, May 24
Game 3: Loser of Game 1 vs. Loser of Game 2 (elimination game), 11 a.m.
Game 4: Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2, 3 p.m.

Friday, May 25
Game 5: Winner of Game 3 vs. Loser of Game 4 (elimination game), 11 a.m.
Game 6: Winner of Game 5 vs. Winner of Game 4 (championship game), 3 p.m.

Saturday, May 26
Game 7: Winner of Game 5 vs. Winner of Game 4 (championship game, if necessary), noon
