NSCAA Northeast Region Poll
Kansas City, Kan. - The Stony Brook women's soccer team (8-4-1, 3-1-0 America East) was ranked in the NSCAA Northeast Region poll for the third straight week, as announced Tuesday. The Seawolves were slotted tenth in the latest poll and have now been ranked in six weeks of the 2013 season.
Marquette moved into the top spot in the region after a 4-0 demolition of former No. 1 Georgetown. The Hoyas dropped a spot to second, while Louisville, Rutgers and Connecticut rounded out the top five, respectively. Monmouth moved up a spot to sixth, while DePaul was slotted seventh, South Florida eighth and St. John's ninth.
The Seawolves opened the week with a tough 3-2 defeat at Hartford last Thursday, but rebounded with a 4-0 rout over SUNY rival Albany on Sunday. Freshman Christina Fluman (Pittsford, N.Y.) recorded four points last week and was named the America East Rookie of the Week as a result.
Stony Brook will continue its America East playoff push on Thursday with a home contest against UMBC. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
