Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's soccer team (6-3-1, 1-0-0 America East) will look to remain perfect at home this Sunday when it welcomes UMass Lowell to LaValle Stadium for a 2 p.m. kickoff. Fans in attendance are encouraged to wear RED as part of the homecoming weekend festivities.
Last Time Out
Stony Brook defeated Vermont on Sept. 29 by a score of 2-1 to pick up its first conference win of the season. Second-half goals by Queli Ornelas (Palm Harbor, Fla.) and Emily Murrer (Aptos, Calif.) saw the visitors claim all three points on the road, earning a victory at Vermont for the first time since 2009.
Scouting UMass Lowell
Conference newcomer UMass Lowell is still looking for its first victory since moving up to Division I prior to the season. The Riverhawks are 0-10, but have played a number of close games, including Thursday's 3-1 defeat to Vermont. The match was tied 1-1 midway through the second half, before Bre Pletnik and Paige Phillips scored to give the Catamounts a cushion on the scoresheet. Brittany Russo and Taylor Packwood lead UMass Lowell with two goals apiece.
Regional Rank
The Seawolves climbed back into the NSCAA Northeast Region poll this week at No. 10. Stony Brook was joined by UConn, Marquette, Louisville, Rutgers, St. John's, Monmouth, South Florida and DePaul in the latest poll, which was released Tuesday. The Seawolves have been regionally ranked for four weeks of the 2013 season.
On the National Stage
Stony Brook has also climbed to No. 79 in the latest NCAA Division I RPI rankings. The Seawolves are the highest ranked America East institution and are the only conference member in the top 100.

Stony Brook is 5-0-0 this season at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. The Seawolves have outscored opponents by a 15-3 margin at home and are one of two remaining America East schools to own a perfect home record this season (Maine).
