2013 VIRTUAL GUIDE

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's soccer team (4-1-1) will close out the home portion of its non-conference schedule on Thursday against Wagner at 7 p.m. The Seawolves have won all four matches at LaValle Stadium this season.

Last Time Out

Stony Brook scored a 3-1 win over Siena on Sunday thanks to a trio of first-time goal scorers. Sophomore Danielle Fuller (Staten Island, N.Y.) netted her first collegiate goal in the opening half, before freshmen Leah Yurko (Cumberland, Md.) and Lindsay Hutchinson (Millersville, Pa.) added their first collegiate goals in the second stanza.

Scouting Wagner

Like Stony Brook, Wagner is off to a hot start in 2013 with a 4-0-1 record though five matches. The Seahawks defeated St. Peter's, Fairfield, Holy Cross and Howard, before drawing Maine in their most recent game. Amanda Sieferman and Jackie Nicholas each have three goals this season and are tied for the team lead with seven points.

Rookie of the Week

After netting the game winner against Siena, Yurko was named the America East Rookie of the Week on Monday. With the game knotted at 1-1 in the second half, Yurko chased down a long pass from senior Ahriel Fernandez (East Haven, Conn.) and headed it over the Siena keeper to give the hosts a 2-1 lead with 17 minutes to play in regulation.

Keep 'Em Comin

Stony Brook has now been honored in the America East weekly awards in all three weeks of the season. Sophomore Stella Norman (Lakewood, Colo.) was named the conference Player of the Week on Aug. 26, before freshman Maxie New (Clayton, N.J.) took home Rookie of the Week accolades on Sept. 3.

NCAA Ranks

Stony Brook currently leads the America East and ranks 16th in the nation in assists per game (3.0). Stella Norman, who owns a conference-high four assists, ranks 15th in the country in helpers as well.
