Dan Pawlikowski named associate volleyball head coach

Feb. 7, 2015

Stony Brook, N.Y. — Stony Brook volleyball assistant coach Dan Pawlikowski has been named associate head coach, head coach Coley Pawlikowski announced today. Pawlikowski has helped guide the Seawolves to back-to-back berths in the America East Championship in two seasons as an assistant coach.

"I am excited about Dan being named associate head coach,” Coley Pawlikowski said. “Dan is an instrumental part of our program and has been shouldering many responsibilities that are most accurately represented by the associate head coach title and role. In addition to off-the-court responsibilities, Dan is the lead trainer in our gym and designs the majority of our practice segments."

"I am excited to continue my efforts with our group,” Dan Pawlikowski said. “I believe in what our staff is doing here at Stony Brook and am proud to be a part of the program."

Pawlikowski joined the Seawolves as an assistant coach in February 2013 after spending one season at the University of Wisconsin. As an assistant coach for the Badgers, Pawlikowski worked primarily with the setters and as an offensive coordinator while serving as the team's international recruiting contact.

Prior to his term at Wisconsin, Pawlikowski spent three seasons as an assistant at Northern Illinois University, where he worked with the Huskies' middle blockers and outside hitters and mentored three players to All-Mid-American Conference selections. Under Pawlikowski's tutelage, Lauren Wicinski achieved third-team All-America status as a sophomore and MAC Freshman and Player of the Year and National Freshman of the Year in 2010. He also served as the director of summer camps and tournaments and assisted with social media, recruiting and video exchange.

Previously, Pawlikowski coached at North Park University from 2006-09 and worked as an assistant coach of the Loyola University men's volleyball team. With Pawlikowski on the bench, the Ramblers produced an overall mark of 92-21, including a 23-7 record in 2007, and won two MIVA Conference regular-season crowns. He mentored three all-conference liberos of the year and four All-Americans.

A 2001 graduate of the University of Illinois, Pawlikowski played four seasons on the men's volleyball club team, where he was part of two Big Ten championship and back-to-back MIVA regional championship teams. The two-time All-Big Ten honoree is continuing his playing career with USA Volleyball and helped the squad win a bronze medal at the 2007 Men's AA Championships.
