NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Halfway through a seven game road swing, the Stony Brook baseball team (19-12, 9-2 AE) travels north to face Central Connecticut (11-19, 5-7 NEC) for a non-conference game at CCSU Field at 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
Wednesday's game is one of just three remaining scheduled non-conference mid-week games for the Seawolves.
Scouting the Seawolves
- Freshman RF Andrew Gazzola (Coram, N.Y.) and sophomore SS Jeremy Giles (Claremont, Calif.) have each hit safely in the last eight games.
- Junior 3B Johnny Caputo (Toronto, Ontario) has hit safely in 13 of his last 14 games.
- Sophomore CF Toby Handley (Whitby, Ontario) has hit safely in six straight games and 10 of his last 11.
- Freshman RHP Nicholas DiEva (Cherry Hill, N.J.) will be making his fourth start of the season on Wednesday. He is 2-1 with a 3.98 ERA in 20.1 innings pitched.
Scouting the Blue Devils
- CCSU has dropped four of the last five outings, including losing the series at home to Fairleigh Dickinson this past weekend.
- Freshman infielder Dean Lockery leads CCSU with a .327 batting average, while senior 1B Dominic Severino leads the team with 15 extra base hits and 23 RBI.
