Final Stats
Stony Brook, N.Y. - Three different players socred goals and six players recorded a point as the Stony Brook women's soccer team (3-5-0) recorded its third win in its last four games, downing Fairleigh Dickinson (3-4-0) 3-0 on Sunday.
Ryan's Reaction
"I am quite happy with our performance," said head coach Sue Ryan. "FDU is a very good, very well-coached team. I think the difference today as opposed to some other games was we we were able to play our entire bench and we finished our chances."
Highlights
- After scoring her first career goal at Hofstra Friday night, sophomore Manuela Corcho (Norwalk, Conn.) once again found the back of the net, poking a cross from freshman Annie Boros (Woodbridge, Va.) into the side netting to give the Seawolves a 1-0 lead in the 19th minute.
- Senior Emily Murrer (Aptos, Calif.) padded the lead to 2-0 in the 32nd minute, racing on to a through ball from freshman Allyson Baner (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and hammering it into the top left corner. Senior Tessa Devereaux (Fayetteville, N.Y.) also received an assist on the play.
- Redshirt junior Raven Edwards (West Orange, N.J.) connected for her second goal of the season in the 78th minute, cracking a right-footed effort from 20 yards out inside the far post.
Notes
- Edwards is Stony Brook's active leader with 11 career goals.
- Devereaux moved into a tie-for-fourth place on the school's career assist list with 17. She is just two shy of Beth Arikian's Division I record.
- Boros and Baner recorded their first career points.
- Ryan played a season-high 23 players in today's win.
- Shots ended up even at 11-11.
- Freshman Cara Gallagher (Massapequa, N.Y.) recorded her first career clean sheet with a three save performance.
- Junior Lindsay Hutchinson (Millersville, Pa.) led the Seawolves with three shots. One of her shots hit the crossbar and another hit the post, leading to the first goal.
- Stony Brook is 3-2 at home this season and 0-3 in neutral site and road games. Dating back to last season, they are 8-3-1 at LaValle Stadium and 0-12-1 everywhere else.
