STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The Stony Brook women's soccer team made it three straight wins over the weekend and will look to keep the momentum up as it hosts Maine Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m., before traveling to UMBC for a 1 p.m. matchup on Sunday, Oct. 16.

Maine enters the week at 6-6-0 on the year, 2-3-0 in America East play. The Black Bears are looking to break a three-game skid, most recently falling at Binghamton 2-1 on Sunday. Five different players have scored two goals this year for Maine, as Kaitlyn Ball and Theresa Gosch lead the squad with six points apiece. Samantha Cobotic has been in goal for the Black Bears the entire conference slate and sits at 2-3-0 on the year, with a .781 save percentage, allowing 1.40 goals per game.

The Retrievers will travel to Vermont on Thursday before returning home to host Stony Brook Sunday afternoon. UMBC enters the week at 5-8-0 on the year, 1-3-0 in America East play. The Retrievers suffered their first loss at home last week, falling to UMass Lowell 1-0 in double overtime Thursday night. Leah Roth has started all 13 games in goal this season, and has a 1.57 GAA and .772 save percentage. Alexa Quaranta leads the Retrievers' offense with four goals and four assists.
Hot Start in League Play
The 3-1 start to league play is the best conference start for the Seawolves since the 2013 season when they boasted the same record. The win at UMass Lowell over the weekend marked the first road win in America East play for Stony Brook since closing out the 2013 at Maine, topping the Black Bears it double overtime.
Successful at Home

Amy Thompson have been a threat on offense for the Seawolves this season. Edwards has scored a goal in three straight games, and Thompson, who was named the America East Women's Soccer Player of the Week this week, has had at least a point in each of the last three games. The pair has also teamed up in back-to-back games as Thompson set up an Edwards goal against Vermont and at UMass Lowell.

The Seawolves currently sit at second in America East with a 3-1-0 record. The team ranks among the top three in four different statistical categories. Leading the league in shots (215), Stony Brook is tied for second in points (56) and assists (20), while also ranking third with 18 goals on the year.
Individually, Edwards leads all Stony Brook players ranking among the top three in three different categories. She ranks second in points (14) and goals (6), while also sitting in third as she averages 0.93 points per game. Junior
