Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook men's soccer team heads to the western part of the state this weekend after going 1-1 in its opening weekend. The Seawolves will play at Buffalo on Fri., Sep. 2 at 10 am and at Canisius on Sun., Sep. 4, at 1 pm.

Buffalo is 2-0 to open the season, notching a 9-0 win over Daemen College in its opener, then clipping Stony Brook's other opponent this weekend, Canisius, 1-0. Russell Cicerone broke the school record with five goals in the Bulls opening night victory. David Enstrom played hero vs. Canisius, scoring the winning goal in the 81st minute. Cicerone leads the team in points with 12 on five goals and two assists. Rikard Lindqvist follows with one goal and four assists. Goalkeeper Joseph Kuta has yet to concede a goal and has made eight saves.

The Golden Griffins have opened the season with two one-goal losses. They received a goal from Hakeem Milson in a 2-1 loss to Binghamton before falling to Buffalo 1-0 despite holding an 18-11 lead in shots.
Dangerous Duval

Thibault Duval (Liege, Belgium), Stony Brook's active leader in career assists, proved he can do more than distribute with a magnificent goal vs. Hofstra in the Seawolves opener. Duval's fourth career goal tied the game at 1-1. He also made his mark in Stony Brook's 2-0 win at Seton Hall, delivering a cross that led to the Seawolves' second goal.
Valle Capitalizes on Opportunity
Senior Eduardo Valle (Miami, Fla.) made his first career start as a forward a memorable one, finishing with a goal in Stony Brook's win over the Pirates. The goal, which gave the Seawolves a 2-0 lead, was the first of his career.
Oh What a Night
Friday's home opener at LaValle Stadium was a milestone night for the program as a record 2,136 fans filled the seats. The atmosphere was electric from the start as the Spirit of Stony Brook marching band opened with a pregame performance and national anthem. Hofstra escaped with a 3-1 victory on two late goals from Joseph Holland.
