CHARLESTON, W. Va. – Former Stony Brook baseball player and current member of the Seattle Mariners organization,
Bobby Honeyman, was named a South Atlantic League Annual All-Star, the league announced on Tuesday morning.
The 2017 graduate of the Seawolves baseball team hit .273 this season with seven homers and 53 RBI and struck out just 14 percent of the time at the plate. This included a .359 hitting stretch from July 3 to August 18 in which he hit safely in 33 of the 37 games played during that time.
He also had a Power-best 18-game hitting streak during this stretch. He became the first West Virginia player since 2007 to take home the award voted on by the 14 South Atlantic Teams' Field Managers, General Managers, Sportswriters and Broadcasters.
It is Honeyman's second consecutive postseason honor as a professional after taking home Northwest League Postseason All-Star honors in the 2018 season. He joins Delmarva's Adam Hall and Greensboro's Mason Martin on the SAL team.
